Realtors provide $3,000 to assist Vernal fire victims

VERNAL—Local Realtors provided $3,000 to help a Vernal family and a Maeser family who lost their homes in two separate house fires on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.

Caro Norton, president-elect of the Utah Association of Realtors, and Heidi Tribe, president of the Uintah Basin Chapter of Realtors, presented checks to the two families at the Uintah Basin Chapter of Realtors office in Vernal on Dec.5.

“As Realtors, we believe in supporting our neighbors and communities during difficult times,” Norton said.“Our goal is to help these families meet their immediate needs as they work to rebuild their lives and recover from these fires.”

The relief funding comes from the Utah Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Fund. The charity has a special emergency fund to assist families whose homes are damaged or destroyed in disasters.

“These families lost everything,” Tribe said. “We wanted to help make their holidays a little brighter by providing some assistance to help them recover from this devastating loss.”

Since its inception, the Fund has provided more than $500,000 to help address housing needs in Utah. The fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit that donates to charitable housing programs.
